2 cups dry navy beans or soybeans
1/3 cup molasses
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tsp honey
1 1/4 cup tomato puree
1 Tbs lemon juice
1 Tbs olive or soy oil, opt
2-3 tsp onion powder
2 tsp sea salt, to taste
Garlic powder or cayenne, to taste
Soak beans overnight; drain. In the morning cover beans with 2″ fresh water.
Cook until almost tender, (soybeans require several hours or use pressure-cooker).
Add the rest of the ingredients and place in baking dish.
Bake covered at 325 degrees 3-4 hours, uncover last hour (Or cook in a crock-pot or slow cooker, until beans are tender and liquid is absorbed)
Yield: approx 8 servings
